IconSiam
IconSiam is the most impressive shopping centre in Bangkok. It's next to the Chao Phraya River, and has more than 7,000 shops, 100 restaurants and even a floating market.
Inaugurated in November 2018, IconSiam has become one of Bangkok's most popular tourist destinations. It's built in Thonburi, one of the "quieter" areas of the capital, and occupies a space of 750,000 square metres.
What to see at IconSiam?
Just as with most shopping centre, the shops dominate IconSiam, with more than 7,000 shops of all kinds and for all budgets.
Most people will find their entertainment in the ground floor, built in the traditional Thai architectural style, and even with a floating market. This area combines shops with food stalls and shows which display the diversity present in the 75 regions of the country.
Those looking for high-end shops will find them in IconLuxe, the most impressive area of IconSiam, where you can also find the world's largest glass wall!
And on the upper floors, you'll find bars and restaurants, many of which have stunning terraces which offer views of the river below. Just as with the shops, when it comes to restaurants there's something for every taste and budget - including some with 3 Michelin stars.
And finally, the cherry on the cake is that outside the building, by the river, every night there is a light, water and colour spectacle!
How to get there
The best way to get to IconSiam is by taking the free boats that leave from the Sathorn Pier dock, connecting the centre to the BTS Saphan Taksin station. The boats leave every 10 minutes between 9 am and 11 pm, and take just 5 minutes to arrive. Other docks that also have free boats are Wat Muang Kae, Si Phraya and Ratchawongse.
If you don't want to take the boat, there are also 2 free buses, one from the BTS Krung Thonburi station and another from Wongwian Yai.
Not to be missed
If you want to go shopping or not, the architecture and location of this mall make it an unmissable visit.
